This full-page display ad touting land in Seaver Park was published in the Helena Independent on July 20, 1913, about two months after the untimely death of investor Ezra Thomas Seaver, a prosperous Vermont merchant who saw land investment opportunities in the Helena Valley. He purchased some 70 acres near East Helena, on the streetcar line, between 1909-1911.

Seaver died in a Montreal hospital from complications of diabetes (possibly sepsis from open sores), aged 55.



1897 Sugar Smuggling Case

It appears that Mr. Seaver was involved in smuggling sugar from Canada to Vermont in 1897. The disposition of the matter was not found, as newspaper mentions of it end in early 1898...
