Mc Cracken's
Golden Rule Store shared the 304-306 North Main address with
Claflin's Furnitire House. When the J. C. Penney Co. bought
out the Golden Rule, Claflin's moved to 17 West Sixth Avenue,
where it would remain until a March 12, 1969 basement fire forced
them to liquidate. |

"Cash
Railway"
In this
detail of the large interior view, we see part of the mechanism
of the "cash railway" system that took money from
the sales floor up to the cashier's office. The cashier would
send change and receipts back down. |
